Conservation charity The Gorilla Organization is using secure ID cards from Payne Security to authenticate its official street-based money collectors and deter fraudsters from cashing in on public generosity.

The Gorilla Organization is an international charity led by experienced conservationists, dedicated to saving the world’s last remaining gorillas from extinction. The charity’s unique grass-roots approach to conservation promotes sustainable livelihoods, nurtures the conservationists of the future and empowers local people to tackle the main threats to the gorillas’ survival, including deforestation and hunting for meat.

To support its fundraising efforts in the UK, the Gorilla Organization uses volunteer collectors in large cities to canvas for donations.  Recognising the risk of fraudsters conning the public by pretending to work for the charity, The Gorilla Organization turned to Payne Security to devise a secure, hard-to-forge ID card to distinguish its legitimate collectors.

Payne Security’s in-house design team worked closely with The Gorilla Organization to develop a unified card design that combines sophisticated security devices with eye-catching graphics to support the charity’s branding.  The chosen design includes photographic personalisation of the cardholder and a “forest” effect created using fine line printing, whose intricate patterns are extremely hard to replicate.  The reverse of the card includes information about The Gorilla Organization’s activities.
