Payne Security Continues To Be Stevenson's Choice

High quality products, allied to the speed and efficiency of its customer service, are key factors in the continuing use of Payne Security by Stevenson College, Edinburgh (SCE) for its student ID card needs.

Based in West Edinburgh, SCE is one of the largest further education establishments in Scotland, with around 14,000 students. The college originally provided cardboard ID cards but decided to switch to laminated cards, preferring the format’s versatility, professional look and speed of creation.

Payne Security was approached eight years ago and SCE continues to rely on the company today for printers, software, cards and ancillaries. Currently, the college uses a Javelin C30i printer, ideal for excellent colour reproduction and long-lasting lamination, and Payne Security’s IDPro software. Initially, Payne Security created suitable templates in co-operation with SCE but trained staff in how to use the software to maintain these. “The IDPro package is particularly easy to work with in terms of creating new cards or updating design templates, ensuring we can quickly adapt to new on-card requirements,” confirms James Marr, Head of Student Services at Stevenson College, Edinburgh.

Around 14,000 blank cards – as well as 6,000 lanyards and badge holders – are supplied per annum. The system relies on prompt delivery, something SCE found recently when new cards were required for enrolment at short notice. “We needed new stock by 9.30am next day or we were facing a real crisis!” confirms James Marr.  “Thankfully, Payne Security confirmed its value by getting the cards to us within that timeframe.”
