Payne Security Joins Anti-Counterfeiting Group

Issue Date: 17 April 2008
Payne Security has joined the Anti-Counterfeiting Group (ACG) in recognition of the organisation’s important work in campaigning against the trade in fakes.
Established twenty-five years ago, the ACG works on behalf of the major manufacturers to protect against theft of intellectual property (IP) rights and achieve effective enforcement against criminality on a worldwide basis. Its awareness campaigns focus on three critical areas: consumer health and safety; economic impact; and counterfeiting’s links to other serious organised crime.
The ACG incorporates the subsidiary Brand Protection Group (BPG), which offers ACG members a specialist service to help them develop a brand protection strategy. The BPG includes many notable brand protection specialists, and it is for this reason that Payne Security has joined.
“The shared experience and networking of the ACG and BPG is crucial in shaping a standardised global response against counterfeiting,” explains Simon Wildash, Head of Marketing at Payne Security. “As a company with years of expertise in creating effective and proven brand protection and document authentication technologies, we want to bring Payne Security’s voice into this important forum to help develop effective strategies.”
The decision to join the ACG complements Payne Security’s founder member status within the International Authentication Association (IAA), as the business aims to develop the message of authentication and brand protection that can bring tangible benefits to product and document manufacturers.
“Agencies such as the Anti-Counterfeiting Group have an enormous role to play in putting a stop to the costly trade in fake goods, and we are delighted to be a part of it,” confirms Simon Wildash.
