Payne Security Wins Queen's Award for Enterprise: Innovation

Release Date: April 21st, 2011
Payne Security has been awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category, for its covert product authentication system. This new security technology delivers a robust and cost-effective solution to Governments and commercial concerns for protecting against fraudulent and counterfeit activity by differentiating between genuine and illicit products or documents. A leading supplier of brand protection, document security and card solutions, Payne Security receives the award in the company’s centenary year.
The Queen's Awards for Enterprise recognises outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the categories of Innovation, International Trade and Sustainable Development. Awarded annually on 21st April, to coincide with Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday, candidates are judged to a demanding standard and must demonstrate the highest levels of excellence in each category. The award will be formally conferred by a grant of appointment, which will be presented to Payne Security by the Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire later in the year.

The award recognises Payne Security’s outstanding achievement in developing an innovative and unparalleled method of protection against counterfeit fraud. Designed, manufactured and marketed by Payne Security, the system integrates an invisible chemical marker usually incorporated into inks and lacquers used to print product packaging, security documents and fiscal stamps, which can only be identified using a uniquely-programmable reader device. Counterfeiters and those involved in smuggling activities cannot, therefore, detect whether or not goods have been security marked.
To date the system has been adopted by a number of international manufacturers and government bodies, and has contributed considerably to the detection of counterfeiting and smuggling activities both within the United Kingdom and worldwide.
“We are extremely honoured to have been awarded this prestigious accolade“, comments Stephen Pinchen, Business Development Director at Payne Security. “This is deserved recognition for the hard work, skill and dedication of our whole team at Payne Security, who will take great pride from this award”
“The Payne Security covert authentication system is at the cutting edge in helping brand owners and document issuers to respond to the increasingly sophisticated tools and tactics of counterfeiters and fraudsters. As a business our challenge remains to continually raise the bar in innovative security systems, using our skills and expertise to develop technology that makes counterfeiting and smuggling activity ever more difficult.”
